Sandbox and Live environments
SkyPay uses one API base URL for both environments:
https://api.skypay.ng/api/v1
The secret-key prefix determines the environment. There is no separate Sandbox hostname.
| Environment | Secret key prefix | Money movement | Access |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sandbox | ssk_sand_ | Test systems only | Available after email verification |
| Live | ssk_live_ | Real processor activity | Available after KYC approval |
Sandbox transactions, balances, withdrawals, and webhook deliveries never appear in Live. Use the explicit SkyPay Simulator for deterministic outcomes, or select an available provider to exercise its real test system through the same SkyPay checkout contract.
SkyPay owns the provider Sandbox credentials. Your server sends only its SkyPay key, and a named provider never silently falls back to the simulator when it is unavailable.
Switch to Live only after your integration handles asynchronous status changes safely and your business verification has been approved. Generate a new Live key; never rename or reuse a Sandbox credential. See Move from Sandbox to Live.
Treat Sandbox secret keys as secrets too. They cannot move real money, but they can create test data and reveal your integration behavior.
